English Literature Students Association UIN SGD Holds ELPW 2020 Prepares Reliable Young Painters

BANDUNG, 86News.co – To accommodate the interests and talents of students of English Literature Department (Sastra Inggris/SI) Faculty of Adab and Humanities (Fakultas Adab dan Humaniora/FAH) UIN Sunan Gunung Djati (SGD) Bandung through the Student Association of the English Literature Department Students (Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan Sastra Inggris) in the fields of arts and sports held English Literature Painting Workshop 2020 (ELPW 2020) with young painters, Ariza Saputri and Ririn Risyanti which took place at the Student Center (SC) building 1st floor from 05 to 26 March 2020.

Head of the SI Department, Dr. Andang Saehu, accompanied by the General Chairperson of HMJ-SI, Handar Wibyan explained as a form of concern for English Literature students, “Every Thursday there are 30 participants consisting of 8 semester II, 8 semester IV, 7 semester VI and 7 students. semester VIII participated in the 2020 English Literature Painting Workshop (ELPW 2020). “Alhamdulillah, yesterday the opening of the ELPW 2020 which presented speakers from young painters, Ariza Saputri and Ririn Risyanti, was enthusiastically welcomed by 30 participants,” he said, Friday (06/03/2020).

Dr. Andang said, “… Thank you for all the participants. There are three things that should remember when you do something, be optimistic, be energetic, and be smart,” he explained.

The agenda for the painting workshop, which was first held by HMJ-SI in 2020, can foster enthusiasm and increase a sense of kinship in the English Literature Program Study. “Besides, hopefully this will become a follow-up work program that can be carried out again next year. Amen,” he explained.

For the Chief Executive of ELPW 2020, Syifa Dwiyanti Putri, said, “In this workshop, I remember two famous sentences: art for art and art for society. I hope that the workshop can be united those famous sentences,” he said.

Chairman of HMJ-SI, Handar Wibyan added, “It is possible that after the English Literature Painting Workshop 2020 event is held, it will foster the enthusiasm of friends to establish a new community around painting in it. Don’t be afraid, just show true your colours, even the best painting in the world has a hater and critics,” he said. Henceforth, the HMJ-SI work program is held every Thursday, from the 5th, 12th, 19th, to March 26th 2020. “After the opening agenda, the participants were given directions by the presenters to make basic painting techniques. Hopefully, from the ELPW 2020 participants, a painter community will be formed which in the end it is hoped that young, reliable painters from English literature will be born,” he concluded.

The plan is that the results of the 30 participants will be exhibited at the Milad of English Literature Program Study in April 2020. (Yopi/Maman)
